Birds

Foolish; clumsy. “People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy” (Eccles 9:12, NLT).

Swallow (bird) Symbolic of blessing, peace, or finding the right place to live. “Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God” (Ps 84:3, ESV).

Grace and beauty. Ugly duckling = hidden potential.

Swift (bird) A symbol of order and obedience to God’s commands. “Even the stork in the heavens knows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming, but my people know not the rules of the Lord” (Jer 8:7, ESV).

Strife; irritation; theft; also symbolic of a messenger; may also be a demonic spirit, depending on the context of the dream. “… and released a raven. The bird flew back and forth until the floodwaters on the earth had dried up” (Gen 8:7, NLT).

Harmless; lacking good sense; not wanting to face any problems; denial. “Even the jackals feed their young, but not my people Israel. They ignore their children’s cries, like ostriches in the desert” (Lam 4:3, NLT).

Specialised; graceful in its own element (water) but awkward on land; vigilant (must constantly watch for its natural enemy, sharks.) “Yes, each of you should remain as you were when God called you” (1 Cor 7:20, NLT).

Busy; industrious.

Symbolic of a demonic influence in someone’s life if the bird is black or grey. Falcon = hunter minister. “Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following” (Acts 20:30, NLT).

Crane (bird) Symbolic of mindless chatter. Crane (machine) Symbolic of a major project, or a season of building up someone’s life. “Delirious, I chattered like a swallow or a crane, and then I moaned like a mourning dove. My eyes grew tired of looking to heaven for help. I am in trouble, Lord. Help me!” …
